The long dominated market of turn-by-turn navigation form Garnim and TomTom is finally intruded by Google with the launch of its Google Map Navigation for Android 2.0. The announcement made on Wednesday followed a drop in the share markets of both the PND’s manufactures.
Google described Google Maps Navigation (Beta) for Android 2.0 devices as an extension to its ‘Google Maps for mobile’ service. This phone-based navigation includes almost everything that any Road Warriors would like to be embedded in their GPS navigation system. One of the most enticing bite of the news it that it is free and does not cost any extra penny for its navigational feature.

One of the stared features of the new Google Map Navigation for Android 2.0 is that it was built from the ground up to take advantage of phone’s Internet connection, which helps in a much-diversified ways.

Motorola Droid first in series smartphone operating on Android 2.0 OS, has speech recognition ability that enhances the navigational feature of the new release software.

Search along route by voice is designed keeping in mind the difficulty people face in using any PND while driving. With GMN speak out your destination place (keeping voice search active) and pop-ups appears on screen with turn-by-turn navigation combined with vocal dictation of the street names. Google map includes several landmarks and guides you for a specific business by name or you can also turn on popular layers, such as gas stations, restaurants or parking along your route.

Wanna see Traffic/street/satellite view:
This new feature brings to you live traffic data over the internet which includes traffic indication, jam information and also it provides you with an alternate route whenever required.
With a double tab on map you can zoom into street view to know what your next turn looks like.
Satellite View when turned on brings on screen a high-resolution, 3D view of upcoming route

The Internet connected GPS navigation automatically brings to your smartphones most up-to-date maps and business listings from Google Maps without any map upgrading or device updating.

Verizon will bring its Motorola Droid with accessory for cars in stores from Nov. 6
