Yahoo is all set to make some changes in the service of e-mail to try to halt the loss of users to rival services. The Wall Street Journal reports that the innovations are being developed under the project Minty. According to the Daily American, the main innovations relate to a new picture of the service, simpler and more rapid access to e-mail. It is somewhat directed at increasing the speed of the service. This is especially important for those countries where access speed is much lower than in the US.

Moreover, a redesign of mobile applications for the iPhone and Android, and the account holders would be able to enjoy a deep integration with social networks (Facebook and Twitter).

Yahoo Mail, with 97 million unique visitors in August 2010, occupies a leading position in the U.S. among other postal services. According to a study comScore, is more than Gmail and Microsoft Hotmail combined. On the other hand, the number of unique visitors to Yahoo Mail in August last year was 107 million.

One of the main contenders of Yahoo Mail is Gmail from Google, which lately passed a similar service from Yahoo in India, one of the most promising markets, and in July 2010 counted 24 million unique visitors (compared to 21 million from Yahoo).

Up gradation to email service, is expected to begin this fall.

Microsoft in an attempt to keep some position in mobile market is upgrading its WinMo 6.5 before it officially announces anticipated WinMo 7.

The most recent of the upgrade news comes with some advancement to touch screen and keyboard. They have brought some new UI with a new keyboard and capacitive touch screen.

Capacitive touch a much more responsive feature to our finger requires less effort to use than that traditional resistive touch of WinMo devices. Though it is far less accurate.

The new changes of keyboard as sneak out by XDA-developers includes no clickable buttons from the top bar, and it has been shrink in favor of a large bottom bar that house everything. The new version supports bigger keys to facilitate finger input, and diverse layouts for certain contextual situations, including a number pad and directional pad when the alphabet is not needed.

As reported via mopocket, after their little talk with an anonymous representative of Microsoft indicates that there might be no change in the name when the new updated UI make their place.

Adobe photo editing application has now touched the Android platform too.

Adobe Systems launched the new application for Android users on Friday. The app tools users to edit, crop, rotate and flip the images. The app also provides users the ability to access their online photo collection on Photoshop.com.

Simple editing UI of the adobe apps makes editing easier for users as the interface let users slide their fingers across the screen to edit and they can also undo the undesired changes done to the photo.

Though Android user gets a new tool to straighten a shot against a grid which their counterpart iPhone/iPod users don’t have yet, but Adobe Android users will have to be satisfied with little less featured application. Filter effect menu and sketch tool is absent in Android apps.

The new app also has an auto-uploader feature that can automatically upload the photos taken from Android devices to cloud storage at Photoshop.com which facilitates users with 2 GB online photo storage.

The apps was greeted with great enthuse among the iPhone holders, Adobe hope a little litter version will still appeal Android users to try out for the Photoshop for Android app.
