If someone talks about the smart phone industry, the people might easily think of Apple and Google as these both are leading the wave of competition in this field.

Apple has just launched iPhone 4 mobile phones, and within three days the launch of this mobile phone sales broke the 1.7 million record bar, Google announced its Android operating system running the number of daily active cell phone as high as 160,000.

Clearly, Apple and Google, have certainly attracted high-profile act of the industry, but the fact is that the two companies are still chasing the North American market leader in mobile phone manufacturer RIM Corporation. According to market research firm Nielsen published data, RIM’s BlackBerry handsets accounted for 35% of U.S. market share, and Apple iPhone mobile phone share of the market share is 28%, The market shares based on Android operating system phones is about 9%.

Of course, the data from the current perspective, RIM is still first in the U.S. market , but this data is implicitly built a significant decline in market share, RIM fact is that 5 years ago, RIM’s mobile phones accounted for 50 % market share, but the growing pressure of competition, under the situation, its market share is declining.

Gartner, another market analysis also predicted that in 2012 it is expected that Android will become the world’s leading race courses (Symbian) after the second best-selling smartphone platform, but Apple’s iPhone will be followed by the first resident and is currently in second place. RIM global market share will slip to fourth place.
