Gmail offers earlier a service that allows its users to chat with each other with calls and video conferencing between computers, but until now there was no opportunity to communicate with mobile phones or fixed ground and Skype was catering such service.

The company skype has informed via its blog t that they have started making their new SkypeKit software developer kit (SDK) which is now available for download bt currently is in its beta version . The blog also informs that with the addition of skypekit every connected device can become a communications device, In the same manner , desktop applications everywhere can now include Skype.

The SkypeKit is currently available in Beta mode and can acquire by invitation only. The blog also informed that . “SkypeKit for consumer electronic device makers will be available tomorrow, June 23, based on the Linux OS. For desktop software developers, SkypeKit will be available for Windows and Mac in the next few weeks.”

The SkypeKit will incorporates robust set of APIs for a variety of popular Skype features, including voice and video calling and instant messaging.

The skypekit will also be able to deliver Skype’s signature super wideband audio, based on the SILK codec. In addition, developers who use SkypeKit will be able to describe them as plugged into Skype.

Default install of Skype on iPhone ?

The U.S. telecommunications company Verizon and the pioneer of Internet telephony Skype announced Tuesday a “strategic alliance” that will allow Verizon customers to use Skype from their smartphones (multimedia phone). Verizon, the number one mobile phone operator in the U.S., will offer the service “Skype mobile” smartphone users with a subscription includes access to Internet from their phones.

Verizon Wireless Weds Skype offering Skype App on Smartphones

Verizon Wireless customers can have a jolly good time making free calls on the other phones using the Internet phone service Skype. This would be the first U.S. operator to permit the Internet phone company on its network.
A free skype application can be downloaded from next month. Verizon phone customers who have voice and data plan will be able to download the app.
The deal was declared today at the Mobile World Congress trade show. The application will help the users call other Internet phone service Skype users or call usual phone numbers for a fee paid to Skype. These calls would go over Verizon’s data network and would not consume minutes on a cell phone plan.
The customers of Verizon phones will be able to use the service on nine different smart phone models including Blackberry and Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android devices from the month of March. This was declared by Verizon and Skype at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today.
Skype app is available on the iPhone only in Wi-Fi hot spots and not over AT&T’s data network.
According to the sources, Skype to Skype calls are free, calls between the Skype users and an outside line cost are as little as 2 cents a minute, or $3 a month.

Google takes over Gizmo5 to sharpen Google Voice

Another acquisition added to Google Empire is an Internet telephony company Gizmo 5. Google has not disclosed any specific feature for the integration but has a vision to improve both Gizmo 5 and Google Voice experience with the acquisition.

Gizmo5 considered as the biggest rival to Skype voice service, makes Web-based calling software for mobile phones and computers. It provides a Web-based VoIP client that lets users make phone calls over the Internet, similar to programs like Skype. Gizmo5 is based on the open SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) standard.

Google released announcement regarding Gizmo5 that current people using it will still be able to use the service, but new signups will be suspended for the time being, also existing users will no more be able to sign up for a call-in number.

Google confirmed the news of acquisition on Thursday but financial terms of this deal were not disclosed.
