The little known brand is much in talk these days. The manufacturer of smartphones HTC Hero, Nexus One, Touch HD and 2, has been sued by Apple accused of being in violation 20 patents related to user interface, architecture and hardware iPhone. A lawsuit that seeks both (HTC and Google ) to enforce the rights of Apple to slow down a potential competitor.

Especially since HTC is the leading manufacturer of smartphones Android, the operating system of Google and Nexus One, the phone designed in cooperation with Google.

The procedure is even more amazing than the HTC phone does not mimic the ergonomics and interface of the iPhone, unlike other phones (like the LG Arena for example).

Apple sued Taiwan’s HTC, which manufactures cellphones with a touch-screen operating system for Google, accusing it of violating 20 patents on hardware and software related to the iPhone.

Although the case does not make complaints to Google, Many analysts seen apple’s action as an indirect attack on the Internet company, whose Google Nexus One is manufactured by HTC.

I think it represents a somewhat indirect process against Google, said Shaw Wu, an analyst at Kaufman Bros.

The process of Apple was opened on the International Trade Commission of the United States and a U.S. federal court in Delaware and want the HTC is prohibited to sell the mobiles in the market or distribute products that violate Apple’s patents in the U.S. territory.

The complaint to the ITC mentions Google Nexus One, launched in January, and other HTC models, such as Hero, Dream and myTouch, powered by the Android operating system as having violations of its patents.

In a statement, a spokesman for Google said “we were not charged in the process. However we defend our Android operating system and the partners who helped develop it.”

HTC said in a statement it was studying the petitions. “The HTC respects the patent rights and its implementation, but also is committed to defend its technology innovations,” said spokesman Keith Nowak.

In a statement Wednesday in Taipei, HTC added that they had the opportunity to evaluate the process.”Until we have that opportunity, we cannot comment on the validity of the allegations made against HTC,” said Nowak.

In a separate statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange, HTC sees no impact of process on its financial projections for the first quarter.

The news is having some effect on the actions of the HTC, but these processes in technology companies are common, and I would say for now that’s just a threat from Apple.

Apple has continued HTC for violating 20 patents “related to the user interface, architecture and hardware of the iPhone. War is declared, and Apple is firing on all cylinders when we see the nature of its demands: for example Apple claims authorship of the screen to unlock. The fact of “unlock a device by making gestures on an image of unlocking”, which seems to affect all phones absolutely tactile infringe on a patent Apple. The remaining claims focus on aspects related to the operation of tactile interfaces, for which Apple has numerous patents duly registered.

Steve Jobs said the approach of his company: “We can either do nothing and watch our competitors stealing our patented inventions or react. We chose to react. We believe that competition is healthy, but our competitors are expected to create their own original technologies, not steal ours.

It reminds you something? Normal, Nokia has been similarly accused of such behavior, and Apple had also cracked scathing comments against Palm, even if they have not (yet) pursued the latter.
Obviously, Apple did not want to leave this issue without reacting.
