Thousands of Facebook users have clicked on the link without noticing the nature of the message. A message appeared on the Facebook yesterday which said, “The man takes a photo of him EVERY DAY for 8 years! “Or” This girl has an interesting way to eat a banana. Go see! “Or” LOL This girl became a police officer after having read his status “snowballed from users.

However, clicking on the link, the message appears automatically on the user’s account and recommends it to all his friends, encouraging the spread of this posting spam. “It publishes the message on your account, your friends will see and click on it and that’s how it spreads,” said Sophos, the computer security firm.

The technique is called Clickjacking. Sophos has identified the malware, named Troj / Iframe-ET. The purpose of this action is a super-fast spread on the social network Facebook. And for this reason that the messages are so enticing, that stirs the curiosity of users.

If you believe you have been hit by this attack, Sophos urges that you delete messages in question from your news feeds and see whether such links or pages have not been fraudulently added to your profile.

Groups that offer such content generally have names that lure the curiosity of users and push them more to click on links not always clearly acknowledgeable, whereas some are content send to users to advertisements. Others have found a new way to take advantage of this method, using it to propagate a worm on the social network, via the technique of Clickjacking i.e. abuse click.

Another fraudulent e-mail had previously invited the 500 million Facebook users to watch “the sexiest video of all time,” according to Sophos.

Cisco has developed an app for Apple iPhone that puts the power of the Cisco Security Intelligence Operations (SIO) in users’ hands keeping them updated with the latest online threats.

Cisco named the app as Cisco SIO To Go. It enables users to personalize alerts to show only those security threats that could impact their network and provides added assurance that they are being protected by their Cisco security solution. It gives them real-time access to a wealth of actionable global security information irrespective of the place where they are.

It is powered by the Cisco Security IntelliShield Alert Manager Service and informs, protects and enables users to respond in real time to alerts and threats to the network. It also provides unique IP and URL address e-mail and Web reputation look-up powered by the Cisco IronPort SenderBase Security Network and the Cisco SIO.

Launched on Friday Cisco SIO To Go will be available for free to be downloaded on iPhones through Apple’s App Store.
