Google accepts a deal to 8.5 million to end a class action lawsuit in the United States against its Buzz social network. At its launch in February, the social network Buzz that Google has linked to Gmail has suffered the wrath of defenders of respect for privacy. They have formulated strong criticism against it. Google has agreed to settle the matter through the payment of $ 8.5 million. According to reports from AFP, the seven plaintiffs will receive 2,500 dollars each and the remaining amount will be allocated to a fund for conservation organizations of privacy on the Internet. Google will also stepped up its educational efforts in this area vis-à-vis users of Buzz.

The main criticism was based on the fact that Buzz had the bad idea to go digging in the Gmail contact list of users to be automatically and without any application for approval a list of contacts to follow. Gmail user names became public under the social network, and most importantly contacts were added since frequently quoted in trade.

Just days after the launch of Buzz, Google has modified I but it was too late, a complaint filed prior nevertheless been maintained. In the U.S., this complaint has turned into a class action (action group).

In a joint statement, Google and Verizon issue a “legislative proposal” on Net neutrality and advocate for their personal vision of an “open Internet.

From t last week it is coming in news that there is a discussion initiated between Google and the telecom operator Verizon around the principle of Net neutrality, which is a “guarantee against discrimination with respect to the source, destination or content information transmitted over the network “, as defined by the ASIC, the Association of Community Internet Services.
According to the New York Times, the agreement would have been intended to give priority to services from Google on Verizon’s network in exchange for a fee.

The two players in the field of telecom and the Internet faces rumors by issuing a “legislative proposal” that would hurt some principles of Net neutrality.

Google and Verizon would the legislative proposal” to be implemented in the United States, with the approval of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) relaxed rules and scalable on Net Neutrality.”Google and Verizon have worked together to find ways to preserve the neutrality of the internet” while “continuing to promote investments in access to broadband Internet”, Google said on its blog.

Both groups agree on an important principle: it can be shown restraint and discrimination legal content for operators and ISPs in the direction of Internet users. The Only problem with it is on how to identify these “legal content” circulating on the Internet? They do not say … The filtering of content perhaps?

“Provide additional services differentiated” … and priority?

However, Verizon and Google also believe that Internet access providers “have the right to a reasonable use of their network, at a time when ISPs want to implement a congestion of their networks to cope with the explosion of web traffic.

Here’s the calculation :

Everyone or almost played Pac-Man for a few days, which resulted in a total of 4,819,352 hours lost. The Blog Rescue Time has made a clever calculation to convert those hours lost in hard cash.

The details of their calculation is available on their site, and for comparison, this sum would have paid all 19,835 employees of Google for six weeks.

Till now there was only one entertainment device that people were aware of and loved deeply i.e. Television. Four billion people worldwide watch TV and the average American spends five hours per day. Lately, people’s source of entertainment is changed from TV and has been transformed into their phone or computer/laptop. These gadgets give much more than a TV. TV misses somewhere that is “the web”. On the contrary, Web misses many of the vast characteristics and the high-quality viewing experience that the TV offers.

Hence, Google announced Google TV: The main purpose of the Google TV is to bring Internet to your television screen. Google says that television can be much more than just a passive display for video: music player, game console, a photo slide show and an opening on the Web. Google TV is an interface that sits between the TV itself and the data upstream. The service knows which program you watch and you can get additional information about it.

Chrome loads Google TV course, accompanied for the occasion of the Flash plug-in version 10.1. The advantage is that users can surf without leaving the couch, although the surfing experience will depend greatly on the type of equipment that allows access to functionality. Indeed, Sony has already announced that Google TV be integrated in some of its televisions and Blu-ray, while Logitech has announced the creation of a full box (with HDMI and Wi-Fi in particular) equipped with a Harmony remote.

Logitech will be compatible with applications software platform Android and iPhone OS, by which it will be possible to manage a proper system of Google TV, and other home electronics, be it Blu-ray players, video recorders and game consoles. It has not yet submitted a new hybrid remote control is equipped with a trackpad and keyboard, and to control the devices it will use radio frequencies.

Attachment from Logitech will be based on Intel CE4100 chip with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and the architecture of a series of Atom, and its facilities will include 4 GB of RAM, the module Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a pair of USB and HDMI ports. Among other things, users will be available to video chat service that supports Full HD resolution (of course, with the appropriate web camera). Available Device Logitech, issued under the project Google TV, should appear next fall, but no specific dates have yet been called.

Google official blog read, “This is an incredibly exciting time — for TV watchers, for developers and for the entire TV ecosystem. By giving people the power to experience what they love on TV and on the web on a single screen, Google TV turns the living room into a new platform for innovation. We’re excited about what’s coming. We hope you are too.”

It seems that the iPad has finally care to be overseas because of the smartphone market, Google intends to intervene more in the field of internet tablets. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam said that the operator worked jointly with Google to offer an Internet tablet. Google remains silent on the subject.

Lowell McAdam, CEO of U.S. operator Verizon Wireless, confirmed to be working with the giant Mountain View on a product that competes with the iPad. ” We work together. We look at all that Google has in its files to integrate them on a shelf . ”

Lowell McAdam proved stingy with details, including refusing to provide a timetable or specify the precise role played by Google in the Internet tablet, the reality remains to be demonstrated.

“We think of everything Google has in its records and that we could integrate a tablet to provide an excellent user experience” has simply commented on Verizon’s boss – thus competing with AT & T operator preferred by Apple for the iPhone the iPad.

If Google does not want to react to that statement, the company states that any builder can use the system to integrate Android in new terminals. In turn Bloomberg Reports About Marquette Smith, one of the spokesmen of the operator, who confirms that the next shelf on the system run much Android OS, not Chrome.

Verizon relies on Google to put pressure on its negotiations with Apple?

Information (in the state, mostly speculation) on the Google project to release a touch pad embarking Android emerge regularly in recent months. According to the New York Times, a product should be born this year.

In March, during the exhibition “Tomorrow the book,” the Google Books program director in France, Philippe Colombet, also referred to the launch of a mutli-use touch pad. He added however that the output intervene until well after that of the iPad (April 3 to May 28 U.S. and France).

But in 2010, Google is already ensure the launch of its netbooks Chrome OS. It is possible that Google benefits from this partnership with automakers to floor on the integration of Android on the shelves of these manufacturers.

Shelves Android already exist

If the market for netbooks was still booming when Google announced its intention to propose an OS dedicated to these machines, since sales growth has declined steadily.

Google, if only in order not to leave the field open to Apple, could therefore have an incentive to complete the porting of its Android platform on the shelf, not necessarily competing netbook.

Nevertheless, Google remains silent about its strategy and its willingness to launch a tablet Android. In addition, such products have already been announced by manufacturers: Dell Mini with Archos 5 and 7 inches with a model. Google’s role would no longer have to improve the integration and involvement in the user experience and the provision of services (such as its online bookstore).
