Your Roku provides you now much more than just Netflix access, Amazon on-demand-video and MLB. Roku team has added 10 new channels to Roku Box with a promise to bring more.

Today they announced a new channel store starting with 10 new channels and to gain access to these Roku player owners will have to create a user account with the company. Channels are free to add and use after the account creation and linking that account with your Roku player.

The launching of Channel Store- an open platform brings with it a free development kit that will company present contents directly and conveniently to consumers. Roku will have final say on which channels are accepted.

In addition with providing access to existing online services the new service offers businesses and educational institutes facility to distribute classes and training video.

The collection of initial channels brings a lot much stuff together from digital Flickr and Facebook photographs to Pandora’s internet radio and also web videos from Revision3 and blip.tv. the ten listed channels includes blip.tv, Facebook Photos, Flickr, FrameChannel, Mediafly, MobileTribe, Motionbox, Pandora, Revision3 and TWiT.

The format is not so furnished at the beginning as it does not include any search engine or guide to help you searching or browsing the various channels. Scrolling to a collection of ten channels may not be too irritating but when the list increases in number it could make users reluctant to scroll every time they are using their Channel store.

Roku owners will gain access to the new channels via a software update the company plans to send out to their devices over the next two weeks. Alternatively, owners can download the update manually.

The Channel Store is designed to be compatible with last month introduced Roku SD, Roku HD and Roku HD-XR players.
