Facebook announced on their official blog, opening a new office in the city of Hyderabad, India. The news came a few days after the confirmation of another new station network in Austin, Texas, the “request” of Governor Rick Perry (who took the opportunity to donate 1.4 million dollars to Facebook as an incentive). Both offices are responsible for online sales and operational services.

With more than 400 million users, Facebook had observed a significant growth in recent years, and these new offices represent a better support, says facebook official blog.

Deciding an office in Hyderabad is really a major step. The blog network shows that 70% of people participating in Facebook are not the U.S., and therefore the presence in other countries is crucial for continued expansion worldwide. The post also points out that only in India, the network already has about 8 million active users.

Besides Austin and Hyderabad, Facebook is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA, and offices in Atlanta, Birmingham (Michigan), Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, New York, Venice Beach (California), Washington DC, and the international Dublin Milan, Paris, Stockholm, Sydney and Toronto.

Facebook, from its more than 400 million users, announces the opening of new offices in Austin Texas but also in India at Hyderabad. Both offices have been created with the express purpose to better serve the users but also to advertisers and developers too. From the brief statement from Facebook not only find the opening of new offices, but also a further acceleration in non-US users who today constitute 70% of Facebook users. Even in India there is an abrupt increase of Facebook users, a number that stands today on the 8 million users.

Facebook data retention

Facebook has always been reluctant to provide extensive user data retention periods for advertisers, so far, the maximum time was 24 hours. That was until now a very good result for Facebook because, other search engines but and online services have a data retention period of far more than 24 hours.

BING, Microsoft search engine is in the front row offers the shortest period of data retention but also at the end of this period, the deletion of any data. According to published by TechCruch, Facebook’s data retention will increase the benefit of advertisers, far outpacing the 24 hours.

Considerations on an increase in data retention times are made against the exchange of “views” between Eric Marcoullier via Twitter. Co-founder and CEO of Gnip Inc (BIO) and Monica Keller, former MySpace Group Architect (past now Facebook)

The problem for any developer seems to have been so far, the continuous ping and sync with Facebook’s servers to obtain user data or perform such as a refresh. The innovation could revolutionize the approach to Facebook (more than some developer has branded the restrictions of Facebook as inefficient), pushing for new developers’ “embrace the Social Network.
