Diaspora announced on its blog the availability of source code for developers. An alpha version for the general public is raised for the month of October. On Sept. 15, the four founders of the project announced on their blog the release of source code to developers. “It becomes a community project whose development is open to anyone with technical expertise and shared vision of a network where users retain control,” they write.

The four New York University students who became frustrated by Facebook’s confusing privacy policy, founded Diaspora.

The User data in the Diaspora will not be hosted on servers unlike Facebook and other social networks, but by the members themselves (on a personal Web server, called Seed, without further precision). It works peer (peer to peer) is the guarantee for the originators of the project, greater respect for privacy.

An alpha version, open to the public, is scheduled for October. “From now on we will work with the community to improve and strengthen Diaspora. According to them, make the source code in the hands of developers is our first experience to create a simple and functional sharing shortcut. Diaspora is in its cradle, but our initial thoughts are there. ”

The project, Diaspora, found a public financing side, as 200,000 dollars were collected through the site kickstarter.

Diaspora has a clearly simpler look and feel though; some of the functions look similar to Facebook. Diaspora stated the site presently enables people to upload photos and albums, share their current status and photos privately and “in near real time with your friends” and “friend people across the Internet.”

Google announced in a blog that developers can now upload metadatas to their future applications. Chrome Web Store by Google is scheduled to be launched in October. Developers can now find out information on web apps they want to develop for Chrome and Chrome future operating system OS. Google had announced the Chrome Web Store at the Google I / O in May.

Chrome Web Store is a platform dedicated to download Web applications, and is aimed at users of Google Chrome. They may find Web applications, on which the user can create shortcuts in Google Chrome. Chrome Web Store was open to developers so that they can propose their own applications with the ability to be remunerated.

The objective of Google is to let developers sell applications web through an online store, along the lines of what is already on smartphones. A web application is technically a summary description of data contained in a file.

Since the web works has significantly changed in recent years, the idea of the web store occurred. Google’s Chrome Web Store is going to feature an altogether new design when it is launched making it easy for users to discover great apps, extensions and themes all on the same platform at one place.

For developers who want to pay the fee later, Google will charge 5% on sales (the rate is 30% for Apple) and $ 0.30 per transaction. But regardless, all the new developers will pay $ 5 for a first record. Developers who already offer extensions or themes listed by Google in its current gallery escape this ticket. According to Google, is also a way to limit the presence of malicious accounts issuing fraudulent extensions.

You will be glad to gear that Final iOS 4 build gets jailbroken, and iTunes 9.2 beta update is now available for Mac platform. Today Apple has sowed iOS 4 (formerly iPhone OS 4.0) Gold Master build (final) to iPhone Developer Program members. Now no more hassles for the developers because earlier to install the iOS 4 Gold build on iPhone or iPod Touch devices, developers need to download iTunes 9.2 beta for Mac platform. But the newly introduced iOS 4 Gold build is already jailbroken with a minor bundle and works only with iPhone 3GS so far.

U.S. authorities can begin antitrust investigation into the corporation Apple, sources (Nnewspaper The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times ( FT)) According to them, officials suspect that Apple intentionally limits the development of programs for the smartphone iPhone, iPod player and Tablet PC iPad in choosing how to write software. In particular, for about a month ago it became clear that software developers for the iPhone cannot use Flash software company Adobe to support streaming video.
The investigation into the Apple, is likely to focus on the question of whether its operating system iPhone is closed ( ie, unavailable for use by third parties.), said the source FT. Although the decision to initiate anti-trust case has not yet adopted, it is unclear even who will lead the investigation – the officials of the American Ministry of Justice or Federal Trade Commission. The final decision on this matter will be taken within a week.

Meanwhile, the founder and CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs recently decided to publicly respond to attacks from Adobe. The official blog, he said: ” Adobe says that its Flash technology is open, and our – closed. In fact, everything is exactly the opposite. The wide availability of products based on Adobe Flash does not mean, that this technology is open: its future development depends entirely on Adobe, and access to it can only return this company. Operating System, which hosted iPhone, iPod and iPad, too ” proprietary “, recognizes Jobs, Apple, one is convinced that you want to use open standards for work-related devices on the Internet, and therefore preferred to HTML5, CSS and JavaScriptiP Technologies Flash.

Google has opened the doors for developers to submit their extensions for Chrome browser which would make let the users to customize their open-source browser to a greater extent.

Google has green signaled this upload flow of developers built extensions at this stage so that it would give them enough time to work on their extension ideas and publish them on Chrome extension gallery before the full launch of Chrome 4 beta. They have even announced that they will soon be heading forward to release the gallery to a small group of trusted testers who would feedback developers with a better insight and bug reports to help them polish their extensions.

Chrome team let developers submit screenshots and YouTube videos in addition with text so to explain their extension functionality.

“Once an extension is uploaded, our gallery takes care of packaging and signing. Updating an extension is also incredibly easy — all a developer needs to do is to upload a new file in the gallery.” says Lei Zheng, Software Engineer Google at blogpost.

Aviary Chrome Extension

Next major news comes with the Chrome extension is that Aviary, makers of browser-based creativity tools have launched a new chrome extension that allows users to do screen capture right in their browser.

Though at present it will currently work for people using the development build of Chrome (and will work for everyone else once Google releases the beta version of Chrome, with extensions support).

The new extension gives easy access to Aviary’s suite of tools for image editing. The image can be saved directly to desktop without having to save it to Aviary making it extremely fast and easy screen capture tool.

It lacks the support to capture full page (normally hidden until you scroll down) and it can’t capture flash content both of which are supported in Aviary Firefox extension.

Google is finally ready to make its web browser Chrome a cross-platform browser. By the early December a polished Chrome Beta would be made available to Mac OS X users.

Presently Windows users can browse with Chrome 4.0 version but Linux and Mac OS X fans only have access to a not so polished developer preview of the surfing tool. But now very soon Mac users will get beta launch for their OS.

Yet not so official announcement but through a Google’s Chromium Extension mailing list Google Chrome Product Manager Nick Baum indicated the arrival of Chrome for Apple Mac users.

In zeal to encourage developers from every platform Nick Baum urged them to swap to the extension for new UI for BrowserAction. He said “We’ve noticed that many of you have updated your extensions to take advantage of the new UI. We’d like to encourage the rest of you to do so as well! Why make the switch now? The earlier you switch, the more time you will have to polish your experience for our Beta launch in early December. We realize this means dropping Mac support for a couple of weeks, but we already have people working on that.”

Adding browser actions to Chrome will put icons in the main Google Chrome toolbar, to the right of the address bar. In addition to its icon, a browser action can also have a tooltip, a badge, and a popup, all this to make your browsing experience very user friendly.
