Diaspora Releases its Code, Will you quit Facebook?

Diaspora announced on its blog the availability of source code for developers. An alpha version for the general public is raised for the month of October. On Sept. 15, the four founders of the project announced on their blog the release of source code to developers. “It becomes a community project whose development is open to anyone with technical expertise and shared vision of a network where users retain control,” they write.

The four New York University students who became frustrated by Facebook’s confusing privacy policy, founded Diaspora.

The User data in the Diaspora will not be hosted on servers unlike Facebook and other social networks, but by the members themselves (on a personal Web server, called Seed, without further precision). It works peer (peer to peer) is the guarantee for the originators of the project, greater respect for privacy.

An alpha version, open to the public, is scheduled for October. “From now on we will work with the community to improve and strengthen Diaspora. According to them, make the source code in the hands of developers is our first experience to create a simple and functional sharing shortcut. Diaspora is in its cradle, but our initial thoughts are there. ”

The project, Diaspora, found a public financing side, as 200,000 dollars were collected through the site kickstarter.

Motorola acquires Aloqa, Location Based Software

Motorola announced the acquisition of Aloqa, a Germano-American partnership for location-based smartphones, without revealing the amount of the transaction.

Installed both in Palo Alto (USA) and Munich (Germany), Aloqa is a provider of mobile services for publishing content associated with location-based functions on smartphones.

Knowing the split between the parent and its Motorola division, Motorola Mobility is expected in the first quarter of 2011.

Motorola plans to leverage the potential of this application with its model Motoblur. Already available as an application, Aloqa have been downloaded by nearly one million people on Symbian, Android or IOS, according to the startup. Christy Wyant, vice president of software and services Motorola Mobility, “geolocation technology will accelerate the release of our own platform.”

Aloqa states have established partnerships with over one hundred content publishers (including Qype, Yelp or Match.com) in six countries.

Basically, Aloqa can be understood as : Technology can deliver content in context, depending on its location, identity and social relationships. By identifying the user is at a given location, for example, the software will offer him discounts at stores, events may be of interest, or places to go out.

HTC Desire HD and Desire Z with HTC Sense UI introduced

HTC has introduced two new models of smartphones running Android 2.2, the Desire HD and Desire Z. The “HTC Desire HD ” focuses on multimedia improving two aspects of the technical specifications of the original. Featuring a 4.3 inch LCD touchscreen, the HTC HD Desire embeds new processor SnapDragon Qualcomm 8255 running at 1 GHz.

Google AdWords enables businesses to buy keywords trademarks for advertising purposes, for inclusion in the first results of the search engine.
