YouTube is already involved in a collaborative production project with the film Life in a Day, has invited users to create a video on “15 minutes of fame.” With instructions: “Imagine that this video is the only thing that the world will know you, what would you communicate? The deadline for publishing these videos, which will be identified by tag “yt15minutes” has been set for Wednesday, August 4, or next week. These would then be selected and their 15 minutes of fame will be featured on YouTube homepage in a future foreground.

YouTube was launched in 2005 and since then it had the 10-minute limit. People must be thinking about this change. Why now?
