BT Signed Five Millionth Broadband UK Customers – BT annunciated that it has signed up five millionth broadband UK customers. And, that lucky five millionth customer is a woman named Elizabeth Patterson of East Kilbride situated in Glasgow and on 9 December, she was presented with a trip to Winter Olympics to see people acting that sledding on a tea tray is a competitive and fun sport.
At present, having five million users, BT is the leading and most reckoned broadband provider in UK. It has been estimated by the company that there are approx. fourteen million broadbanders in the country and out of which around one third belongs to BT.
The Managing Director of BT’s Consumer Division Mr. John Peter said, “We are thrilled to have passed the 5 million mark and it’s now full speed ahead for 6 million. The UK’s intensely competitive market for broadband has meant that UK customers have enjoyed superb innovation and low prices. There is more to come, as we believe bringing the content of things like iPlayer and ITV Player to the TV set via broadband is going to have a transformational effect when we launch Project Canvas with our partners next year.”
The company has also declared that it will be bringing up its 100 Mbps fiber optic internet connection to customers prior to the 2012 summer Olympics, being hosted by Britain. Earlier, the next generation broadband service was scheduled to be released in year 2013.
BT also cited that its forthcoming Project Canvas will be soon launched by the company in collaboration with ITV, Channel 4, BBC and TalkTalk. According to it, the company is looking forward to render services like Amazon and iPlayer to TV on its broadband service.
