Apple says no to warranty if you smoke near to your Macs

Smoking is injurious to not only man but also now even for your Macs. Few records brought to light say Apple is not honoring warranties if your Macs are contaminated with second hand smoke.

The report published by The Consumerist notes experience from two separate readers who were refused for repair service from AppleCare both having their warranty period intact. They were refused for the repair because of presence of damage related to smoking. Following the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) rules while dealing with these systems the employees at AppleCare consider these contaminated systems have nicotine which under OSHA is a biohazard and Apple employs have right to deny them for repair.

Both the macbook and iMac owners were disappointed because their machines were under active warranty period and also as they reported there is nothing mentioned over this on their Applecare warranty.

A part of the email of macbook owner read as “Not only is this faulty science, attributing non smoking residue to second hand smoke, on Chad’s part, no where in your applecare terms of service can I find anything mentioning being used in a smoking environment as voiding the warranty.”

Geesh what vendors will come up with to avoid fixing defective products. Next it will be “we detected caffeine on your mouse” or “trans fats on the keyboard”.
