Android 1.6 loaded with Google Map Navigation for road warriors

Google Map Navigation (Beta) now available for Android 1.6 and higher.

Google launched its Google Map Navigation Beta for Android 2.0 a few weeks ago. The latest Android had the compatibility with Google Map Navigation but those Android lovers who had been using the platform since earlier would have felt left out kind of without Google Map Navigation in their older Androids but Google didn’t let them be upset for long, to gift them happiness on the Thanksgiving occasion Google has presented them with Google Map Navigation for Android 1.6 aka Donut and higher. Yes now most of the Android powered Smartphones will guide users to their destinations in US.

With the launch of Google Map Navigation it claimed to be a tough competitor to pre existing leaders of PNDs like Garnim and TomTom and now it has expanded its availability from Android 2.0 to Android 1.6.

Google Map Navigation Beta the internet -connected GPS system brings voice guidance and automatic rerouting, smartphone. Advantaging Google search (verbal or typed) to enter destinations, latest maps, business and traffic data; satellite and Street View imagery along route over the google-maps-navigationphone’s data connection the Google Map Navigation service brings important benefits to GPS navigation users to become a well equipped road warriors.

Another feature added to this launch is the new Layers feature. This feature allows users to overlay geographical information on the map. View My Maps, transit lines, Wikipedia articles about places, and more.

this release lets you create a shortcut that allow users to launch navigation and start getting guidance to specified place of that shortcut form your present location with a single touch.

So what are you waiting for all you have to do to access Google Map Navigation on Android 1.6 is just download an updated version of Google Maps from Android Market to use Navigation.

It is currently available in the United States.

A little sad part of the news is that Google Map Navigation Beta for Android 1.6 is less featured. Like the ability to use the “navigate to” voice command id missing.
