Acer plans to bring more Android phones

World second largest PC brand, Acer is now exploring the budding field of smartphone market. This year they launched nine handsets powered with Windows Mobile OS and the coming next week would be privileged with its Android powered handset release.

In an interview with The Reuters Acer’s mobile unit head Mr. Aymar de Lencquesaing told that this so unbalanced handset release will be much more balanced next year and they will concentrate with 8-10 handset release per year with around 40 telecom operators prioritised through which they will sell its handsets. Presently through approximately 10 operators Acer is selling their handsets.

The potential growth in smartphone market has already attracted many PC makers to fall in the pool of handset manufacturing like Asustek, HP, Dell and now even Acer. Acer decides to grow its Android based handsets without planning to explore other operating systems. “There is definitely momentum behind Android”, said Aymar de Lencquesaing.

Google is already keen to grow its Android platform it recently added Google Map Navigation beta to its earlier Android 1.6 after its launching with Android 2. Acer is seeking potential revenue earning with Google’s mobile OS Android army in near future.
