Sony used the GDC in San Francisco to introduce its PlayStation Move. Is it true that its a simple evolution of the Wiimote competitor to Nintendo?
PlayStation Move will be marketed by Sony’s famous wand. Controller motion recognition copied on the Wiimote, which allows Nintendo to dominate the current generation of consoles.
Microsoft has chosen to invest in Natal, more technologically advanced by removing the handle, Sony merely a vague plagiarism of what works at rival Nippon.
So what does the PlayStation Move Will be able to do better than the Wiimote? More specifically, this seems already acquired since no latency should be seen in the movements.
However, what continues to amaze is the choice of technology, Sony PlayStation as its Move needs to be coupled to the PlayStation Eye (the webcam for the PS3) to work. If one adds to this the Sub Controller (Nunchuk, Sony, wireless), it’s getting a lot of accessories …
Sony will operate differently PlayStation Move, and offer more sophisticated games that are compatible mini-games to Nintendo sauce. Recently David Cage, creator of the game Heavy Rain let such hearing that Quantic Dream could soon make an announcement about the PlayStation Move. But oddly, for the moment to leave the GDC conference which was introduced PlayStation Move is the looming concern among gamers. Indeed, the only “real” game was introduced as compatible SOCOM 4.
For the rest, Sony has clearly shown the ambition to come walk on the flat strips of Nintendo, with the archery (using two PlayStation Move), golf, tennis, fighting with swords a fighting game … From Wii Sports, in other words! And Sony also introduced Eye Pet and LittleBigPlanet to be compatible.
Sony has stated that many third-publishers are already working on titles compatible with the PlayStation Move, including Activision, Konami or Electronic Arts has confirmed this week that his Tiger Woods 2011 would be compatible with this technology, but not Natal with the X360, lack of time. It will therefore probably wait until E3 to see what other kinds of games that exploit PS Move that, after feeding the column for months, is finally a reality.
PlayStation Move out this fall, sold bundled with a game. There is no declaration on the price factor.
